Our Weekend Fun!

Indy-500-race

It’s already Wednesday and I am STILL recovering from the weekend. What a FUN Memorial Day weekend we had! Saturday we watched the Indy 500 Parade from John’s office. That is a new tradition of ours. We’re so blessed to have such an awesome view of the parade! This year it was just John, myself, Caroline, Bella and two of Bella’s closest girlfriends. We picked up the girls, stopped by Whole Foods and filled our cart with a pizza, salads, chips and all sorts of yummy stuff, before heading down to the parade. John, Caroline and I watched the parade from the balcony and the girls basically ran through the office playing hide and seek the whole time! 🙂 I am always so impressed by the parade. So many talented people come together every year to make this such a cool event for our city!

After the parade, we took both of Bella’s friends home and then we went to get ice cream at this cute little old town ice cream shop near our house. Of course, on the way home, an ice cream cone ended up falling between a certain 10 year old’s door and seat, and a certain 1 year old somehow managed to hit John and I with baby food purĂ©e all the way from the back seat, but it was a perfect afternoon.

And then there was Sunday… every year I get to go to the Indy 500 with John’s sister, Melissa. This year her wife, Teri, and son, Andrew, came along too, and we had SO MUCH FUN. We left the house around 9:30 Sunday morning and had THE best time. My allergies were a hot mess Sunday. I felt so bad for the guy sitting next to us who had to hear me sneeze 457 times during the race! I love the race, though. I love racing in general, but I’m just so mesmerized by the 500. It is so neat that so many people come to OUR city for the Greatest Spectacle in Racing!

My race day outfit. Never have I EVER sported a dress to the race but this dress was so comfy I’d do it again! >>> http://shopstyle.it/l/JWJ

Monday I took the kids down to visit with my parents, brothers (and their families). It’s about an hour and 15 minutes one way so it’s no easy feat after a long weekend but it was long overdue. I love our visits there SO much and we are always so sad to leave. Jackson and Bella spent the day swimming, fishing and playing with their cousins all day. It always makes me a little sad when I leave because I miss seeing them all. I’m jealous they all see each other every day (they all live within shouting distance from one another lol).

My beautiful mama and her two youngest grand babies!

So yes, it was a busy but super FUN weekend! The kids’ last day of school is TOMORROW so we will be finishing out the week with a 5th grade pizza party, 8th grade party (at a house, eek..), and a girls’ pool/slumber party. Oh, and we’re having a garage sale this weekend. Summer is literally here and I couldn’t be more excited. While we’re going to have an insanely busy summer between orchestra, football, basketball, swim team and Bella’s riding, I am super pumped up about it. With the kids growing up right before my eyes, I cherish each and every summer because before long, it’s going to be just Caroline and me.

I hope everyone has an AWESOME week! I appreciate you!

XOXO, Jodi
